About Me

Puppeteer Varun Narain: Varun Narain is Delhi based puppeteer who believes in blurring boundaries. He tells stories about queerness and colonial history through the eyes of spices and other plants. Among other things, Varun Narain teaches and gives workshops on gender and sexuality, using puppetry as a tool to raise issues about stereotypes and prejudices. Varun was the first Indian Performance Artist in Residence in Switzerland facilitated by Prohelvetia, The Swiss Arts Council, Nw Delhi. He has trained and studied under the Master puppeteer Neville Tranter. Varun has also worked at the Royal Tropical Theatre in Amsterdam, using puppetry for HIV AIDS awareness in the city of Amsterdam.
